How do envelope stuffing machines work?

An envelope stuffing machine is a machine that processes a sheet or multiple sheets of paper from a feeder or multiple feeders, then folds those pages using knife or buckle folds and finally stuffs them into and envelope and seals it.

• Bending/folding each sheet along a straight line according to specified dimensions so every page is identical and will fit perfectly into the envelope. For most mailings this is generally C folds and Z folds but also half fold, fold-out, double parallel fold, gate (brochure) fold, and right-angle fold.
• Detecting the number of pages to ensure only the right number of pages go into each envelope. This means you don’t have to worry about accidentally including a page from a customer’s statement amongst the pages for another customer.

5. Stationery requirements for envelope stuffing machines

Using an envelope stuffing machine should not mean that you need to change your stationery. These machines are made to handle documents from 60 gsm up to 250 gsm, plus multiple envelope sizes. Some of the advanced machines will allow for the processing of items including brochures and other marketing material. The envelopes needed to allow a stuffing machine to seal them do need to be gummed rather than self-seal, but this change to gummed envelopes will actually reduce your stationery spend.
